Top 10 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Favorites

When it comes to festivals at the theme parks, the Epcot Food and Wine Festival is the OG. We’ve previously shared some tips for navigating a successful visit to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, but we wanted to share some of our favorite dishes.

We tried to include some festival staples as well as some new additions to the 2019 lineup.

Jessica’s Epcot Food and Wine Favorites

  1. The IMPOSSIBLE Burger Slider (Earth Eats) – I first discovered this dish during the 2018 festival and was so excited to see it back on the lineup. The wasabi cream and Asian slaw paired with the sesame seed bun makes for a solid little slider. It was my first time ever trying an IMPOSSIBLE burger patty!
  2. New Brunswick Slider (Hops & Barley) – This is one of my go-to’s at the Epcot Food and White. I just love the combination of the brisket with horseradish cream topped with crispy fried onions. The one downside about this is sometimes the meat can be a bit fatty, but I’ve had more good experiences with this dish than bad.
  3. Tostada de Carne (Mexico) – A new addition to the Mexico booth in 2019, this tostada may be small but packs quite the punch. The mole has great flavor and the beef is so tender!
  4. Chimichurri Skirt Steak (Flavors from Fire) – My list is first, so I get to steal this one from Tyler! This dish is new for 2019 and we’ve had it on several repeat visits to the festival. The skirt steak is served on a smoked corn cake with pickled vegetable slaw with a delicious cilantro aioli finishing up the dish. Can’t recommend this one enough!
  5. Carrot Cake (Hops & Barley) – I was really trying hard to not double up on a booth, but I wanted to make sure to add a dessert in since I had all savory dishes. If you are a fan of carrot cake then you have to try this one! It’s a perfect amount of sweet and the ratio of cake to icing is spot on!

Tyler’s Epcot Food and Wine Favorites

  1. Canadian Cheddar Cheese and Bacon Soup served with a Pretzel Roll (Canada) – I have this on my list half for taste and half for nostalgia. While it’s true that this dish is now available all year, I still make sure to have a bowl of this delicious soup at least once. (It also doesn’t hurt that the Canadian pavilion is the best place to see the ducks!)
  2. Creme Brulee with House-made Chocolate Hazelnut Cream (France) – Creme Brulee, or as I like to call it “pudding with a blowtorch” is consistently one of my favorite desserts and France makes it even better by making it chocolate flavored.
  3. Warm Chocolate Pudding with Irish Cream Liqueur Custard (Ireland) – This is another classic Epcot Food and Wine dish that I just have to have every visit. The warm cake has a great consistency and the custard brings an extra bit of flavor.
  4. Guinness Bailey Shake (Ireland) – I’m also cheating a bit by repeating countries, but this is a new one for 2019 and is basically an adult milkshake. The cold shake pairs perfectly with the warm pudding and hits the spot on the more hot and humid nights.
  5. Teriyaki Chicken Bun (Japan) – This is a favorite for both Jessica and myself. These bao buns are steamed and filled with chicken, vegetables and a sweet teriyaki sauce. The bun can be a bit doughy for some, but I like the soft texture and this is one of the more filling options in the festival.

 Honorable Mentions:

Liquid Nitro Chocolate-Almond Truffle with Warm Whiskey Caramel (Chocolate Studio); Chocolate Picante: Dark Chocolate Mousse with Cayenne Pepper, Paprika and Mango-Lime Compote (Flavors from Fire); Cerveza Por Favor: Mexican craft beer served with a liqueur floater (Mexico)

What to Skip:

  1. The Alps Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Baby Potatoes, Cornichons, and Baguette. We both have ties to Wisconsin, so we’re obviously lovers of cheese. So then, how can we put a cheese-based dish on our skip list? Well, it didn’t have enough cheese! For the price, we didn’t feel like this was a good value.
  2. Australia We have a love/hate relationship with this booth. For several years it had our hands-down favorite dish of the whole festival – the mussels. The booth last featured mussels in 2018 and it was a huge let down because they went from serving four mussels down to three and the flavor just wasn’t there. We thought the grilled shrimp would make up for it, but there just isn’t enough flavor there either.
  3. Belgium. The waffles aren’t anything special and taste like the same waffles you’d get at any of the breakfast buffets on Disney property.

The best thing about the Epcot Food and Wine Festival is the sheer variety of food options available to try. While the ones we listed are just a few of our favorites, we encourage everyone to go out and try as many different options as possible to create a list of your own!
