Orlando’s Outdoor Dining Scene

Outdoor dining is plentiful in Orlando. In fact, it’s one of the reasons why Orlando consistently ranks at the top of Most Pet-Friendly City lists. Rather than give you a rundown of every possible place you can eat outside, we wanted to highlight a few of the places we go to frequently and where we take friends and family when they’re visiting us.

Boxi Park

When it comes to outdoor dining in Orlando, one of our absolute favorite spots is Boxi Park in Lake Nona. It has so many options when it comes to food from burgers to tacos, lobster rolls, and even black vanilla ice cream. There’s also a couple of spots where you can grab a beer, wine, or cocktail as well. With plenty of seating (including under shade), this is a great spot to graze, enjoy some drinks, and listen to live music.

A la Cart

In the heart of Orlando’s Milk District, A la Cart highlights local food trucks and local beer. It can be a little tricky to find parking because this spot is very popular and has a very small parking lot. There are anywhere between four to five food trucks there at any given time. Some are more permanent fixtures, while others come and go. Be sure to check out their social media channels to know which trucks are going to be there.

Plant Street Market

Plant Street Market in downtown Winter Garden is a really fun and unique spot. Inside the market, there are about 20 local vendors selling everything from sushi to tea to sandwiches. You can make a pretty solid meal by shopping at different vendors. You can also wash it all down with local beer from Crooked Can Brewing Company. After our meal, we like to take a stroll down Plant Street to see the rest of charming downtown Winter Garden.

Fun tip – The Winter Garden Farmers Market is awesome and a great way to experience Plant Street Market after your shopping.

Park Avenue

Park Avenue in Winter Park boasts some of Orlando’s best restaurants with charming scenery. There’s plenty of sidewalk space as well as a little park where you can have a picnic and people watch. Several of the restaurants offer outdoor dining.

Prato is one of the go-to Italian restaurants in Orlando. Briarpatch is a great brunch spot, but be warned it gets really busy so there’s usually a wait on the weekend. Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine has a few locations around Orlando, but the Park Avenue location features outdoor dining.

Our favorite restaurant on Park Avenue, Garp & Fuss, doesn’t have traditional outdoor dining, but we still want to point it out. There are five distinct dining rooms at Garp & Fuss, but if you go there, try and eat in the front room which is full of natural light from the large windows. It’s one of the most beautiful dining locations in all of Orlando.

Garp-and-Fuss

Disney Springs

If you follow us on Instagram, you know we spend a great deal of time at Disney Springs. We absolutely love it there and it’s such an easy place to spend the day. When it comes to outdoor dining, you have a few options including Chicken Guy, Blaze Pizza, The Polite Pig, The Boathouse, Wine Bar George, and House of Blues.

Fun tip: If you want to have a drink in a fun environment, we suggest Jock Lindsay’s Hangar Bar or the Coca-Cola Store Rooftop Beverage Bar. At Jock Lindsay’s, grab a table on the boat and you can people watch and watch the amphicars from The Boathouse launch and return. At the Coca-Cola Store’s rooftop, you get some amazing views of Disney Springs. We like heading up there at night to watch the fireworks from Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Universal CityWalk

When it comes to outdoor dining, Universal CityWalk has fewer options than its counterpart further south. Red Brick Oven Pizza is a great place to not only people watch (since it’s pretty close to the entrance), but also enjoy some solid pizza. One of our favorite restaurants at CityWalk, NBC Grill & Brew has a large outdoor patio as does Toothsome’s Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen, and Cowfish.

Whether you’re an Orlando local or visiting Central Florida on vacation, we hope you take advantage of the great outdoor dining spots our city has to offer. We highlighted a few different locations around the city and could definitely go in more detail about different neighborhoods.
