Keeping Cool at Glacier Bar
One of the most underrated aspects of SeaWorld is the food and drink options. Not only are the food options better than your average theme park food, but SeaWorld has put a lot of emphasis on giving their guests a place to sit back, relax, and have a drink. Just like they did with Flamecraft Bar and the bar at Shark’s Underwater Grill, SeaWorld’s newest watering hole, Glacier Bar, is a great place to have an excellent drink, some great food, and chill out.
What is the Glacier Bar at SeaWorld?
Located next to Wild Arctic, Glacier Bar was built to celebrate the Covid-delayed Ice Breaker ride. Ice Breaker is set to debut in early 2021, but Glacier Bar is open now for you to enjoy.
Drinking at Glacier Bar
A bar is only as good as its drinks, and SeaWorld’s Glacier Bar has plenty of options for every type of drinker.
Beer
No bar is complete without beer, and Glacier Bar offers a pretty good variety. Sam Adams Boston Lager, brews from Cigar City Brewing Company (a Florida brewery), and a Yuengling/Hershey’s Chocolate Porter (more on that later) are on tap, as well as bottles of Budweiser and hard seltzers.
Cocktails on Tap
Taking advantage of a recent bar trend, Glacier Bar features two craft cocktails on tap. The first is a classic, rum-filled sparkling mojito. The second is a spicy pineapple tequila margarita.
Frozen Mixed Drinks
You can’t have a bar named after a giant chunk of ice and not have frozen drinks! There are two frozen options to choose from: Jack and Coke or frozen daiquiris. Daiquiri choices are the classic strawberry daiquiri, pina colada, and the Orlando Vice, which is a combination of the two.
Jessica got the Orlando Vice and aside from being delicious without being too sweet, it also came with a small surprise that we’ve never seen before — an edible, strawberry-flavored straw! The straw came with the drink without us realizing exactly what it was until about halfway through drinking it. It’s a really fun way to have a sustainable straw with your drink. It comes in other flavors as well, like lime.
Frozen Jack and Coke are basically adult ICEEs. They come in three flavors: Classic, Fire & Ice (Coke and Tennessee Fire Whiskey), and Tennessee Honey (Honey-flavored whiskey and frozen Cherry Coke). The good thing about these drinks is they’re tasty without overwhelming you with being too sweet.
Mixed Drinks
The cocktails on tap and the frozen concoctions aren’t the only drinks you can have at Glacier Bar. There are still plenty of opportunities for classic mixed drinks like vodka sodas, non-frozen rum and Coke, and other drinks from bottles.
The mixed drink menu is also where you can try Glacier Bar’s signature drink The Glacier. Made with vodka, ginger beer, coconut, and lime, this was a light and refreshing drink that would be perfect for summer. A word of advice on the Glacier, the coconut flavoring tends to settle on the bottom, so keep stirring! We enjoyed a light coconut taste at first until BOOM!…tons of coconut!
Non-Alcoholic Drinks
Thirsty but not in the mood for a drink? Glacier Bar features a handful of Coke Freestyle machines as well as the ability to get some of the frozen drinks without alcohol.
Eating at Glacier Bar
While drinks are the signature for any good bar, food is important as well. Even though Glacier Bar features a limited menu, the food options are tasty and filling. If you’re looking for more of a snack option, try the cheddar bacon beef sliders or peppered brisket waffle fries. For something that’s a bit closer to a meal, order either the truffle veggie or BBQ chicken flatbread pizzas. The pizzas aren’t huge by any means, but they’re bigger than you’d think and perfect for sharing.
Glacier Bar doesn’t just have a signature drink, it has a signature snack as well: the cookies and “chocolate milk”. This scrumptious snack is a chocolate chip ice cream sandwich served alongside a cup of the draft Yuengling/Hershey’s chocolate porter. Neither of us are big fans of dark beers, but you can really taste the chocolate in this drink! It paired really nicely with the ice-cream sandwich, but it was so good we would consider having it all on its own.
Quick Tip: Tuesdays and Thursdays are All-Day Happy Hour. For the entire day, drinks and food are 50% off!
The Atmosphere
Glacier Bar is a really nice place to just hang out. The entire bar is under cover and features giant fans to keep the air moving. The weather wasn’t too hot when we visited because we went during the fall, but we can really see this being a great place to get out of the sun during the hot summer months.
Glacier Bar also boasts a cluster of TVs playing live sports. We visited on a fall Sunday, which meant there were plenty of football games on to entertain us. As for seating, there were seats at the bar as well as a handful of tables. Glacier Bar isn’t huge by any means, but it was big enough to comfortably accommodate everyone who was visiting.
Glacier Bar is also a place to give back. Fulfilling SeaWorld’s mission to save and rescue animals, a portion of Glacier Bar’s sales are donated to the Alaska SeaLife Center.
The Verdict
Taking breaks is super important for a fun theme park day. What better place to get off your feet and recharge than a bar! SeaWorld Orlando’s Glacier Bar is a casual, comfortable place to grab a fun drink and enjoy a tasty snack. If you find yourself visiting SeaWorld Orlando, we highly recommend stopping by and checking out the Glacier Bar.
